Row The Prouty Overview & Schedule

What:
Row The Prouty—Seventh annual row on the Connecticut River to raise money for the fight against cancer!

When:
Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 6:30am to 12:30pm. Rowers choose their own launch time, but must be off the river by 12:30pm.

Where:
Based at the Dartmouth College rowing docks. There is parking for trailers and cars, as well as room to store shells overnight (bring your own slings!).

The Details:

Bring your own rowing shell. Sorry, but no paddle boats, canoes, or kayaks allowed.

Choose your own distance—5, 10, 15 or up to 20 miles in an “out and back” format. The Prouty rowing course is the 10 mile stretch of river from the Ledyard Bridge/Dartmouth Rowing Docks to the Lyme Bridge and back.  Mile marker buoys mark the distances.  Land based “Stop-And-Go” (SAG) stops, with docks, are located at approximately 4 miles and 9.5 miles and are equipped with food, water, Port-o-Johns, Gatorade, sunscreen, band aids and basic tools. Check here for Prouty rowing map. Additionally, there are two motorized Prouty Safety Launches on the river which can provide water and snacks. They also can provide tools and medical supplies.

Like other Prouty events, this event is not timed nor is it considered a “race.” You can choose to go all-out for 20 miles, or simply enjoy a beautiful 5-mile easy row. The Connecticut River parallels a segment of The Prouty™ cycling and walking course. Rowers, cyclists, and walkers will be visible to each other as they participate!

After your row, you can take the shuttle to The Prouty™ event site at the Richmond Middle School where you can enjoy the all-day Prouty Party with other Prouty participants.

SCHEDULE

Friday, July 7 – Pre-Row The Prouty

ROWER PARKING NOTE: UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO PARKING FOR TRAILERS OR CARS WITH BOATS ON TOP AT THE RICHMOND MIDDLE SCHOOL (“RMS”) on either Friday or Saturday.

Rowing participants without trailers who are interested in completing their bib pick-up and/or attending the Friday night pasta dinner from 5-8pm at the RMS site, should park in the Dewey Parking Lot and take the shuttle bus to The Prouty venue. There is no venue parking at the Richmond Middle School. (Dewey Parking Lot is approximately 1 mile from the boathouse AND Richmond Middle School.) Click here for directions and maps to Friends of Dartmouth Rowing Boathouse, Dewey Lot, RMS and day-of event parking sites near RMS.

The Dewey Parking Lot cannot accommodate trailers.  As a result, starting at 5:00pm, the Friends of Dartmouth Rowing Boathouse opens for participants with trailers. Trailers with boats can be left overnight; however, The Prouty assumes no responsibility for your boat. The parking area will be periodically patrolled by College security officers and town police. Once the trailer has been parked, please plan to join the remaining event participants by parking in Dewey Lot and taking the shuttle to the venue.
